The grocery store. I went to St. Luke's School. We came here to get candy, cookies, and ice cream. All that stuff is good for ya! Not only that, but you could get it for $.03 and $.05. I think the ice cream cone was $.18. People bought houses on wages like that!

All the kids at noon would come here for candy.

That was quite the store. They had one of those things - the air chute - that would get your change for you from the office. All the stores had them - Pennies, Montgomery Wards...
